The 50th Anniversary of Camp Resolute was celebrated in 1974 (I was there, Charlie) and this patch was issued that year. There may be confusion because the 60th Anniversary was celebrated in 1983 (I was there as an assistant scoutmaster). I think the difference was that the camp was purchased and improvements were begun in 1923 but the first summer season was 1924. To verify my memory, I will note that the week my troop was there in 1974 Nixon resigned as President and when they buried a 25 year time capsule the next days edition of the Boston Globe with the huge headline NIXON RESIGNS was placed in it. That time capsule was dug up twenty-five years later in 1999 and the Nixon newspaper was mentioned on the councils website as among the artifacts found in it. There was a design contest held in which scouts could submit designs for the 50th anniversary patch. The winner was, as I recall, Howie Holmes, Jr. of Troop 12 Framingham, an Eagle Scout and at one time Chief of the Taunkacoo OA lodge. This patch was particularly prized by its recipients as in those pre-computerized embroidery days a four-color patch was something special. As you can see on this website, the image of the Indian holding up his peace pipe to the setting sun was used for many summers after in different colors.
